DAHLONEGA, Ga. - The No. 6 seed Columbus State University softball team's season comes to an end after a 4-6 loss to the seventh seed Flagler College in the NCAA Southeast Regional on Friday afternoon.
The Cougars were eliminated from the NCAA tournament after suffering two losses to Francis Marion and Flagler, ending the 2024 season with a 35-24 overall record.
Flagler got on board in the first inning, scoring two runs off of two hits, and CSU answered with one run in the bottom of the inning thanks to a

Caitlyn Canady. The Saints made it 3-1 in the third, however, the Cougars scored three runs on three hits and an error in the next half inning to take the first lead of the game.
Canady started the inning with a lead off double and
Katelyn Cooper followed up with a walk.
Lindsey Patton drove Canady in with a double to left field, then Harris tied the game at three with a sac fly, scoring Cooper.
Kenzie Bayer also hit a sac fly to give CSU a 4-3 lead, plating Patton.
CSU's lead was shortly eliminated as FC scored three runs in the top of the fourth off of four hits and one error. The next three innings were scoreless, ending with Flagler advancing to the next game.
Julianna Franklin received the loss inside the circle after entering the game in relief and pitching 4.0 innings. Canady led the Cougars with two hits while Harris collected two RBI.
The Saints will play No. 2 seed North Georgia in an elimination game Friday evening. The winner will face third seed Francis Marion on Saturday. The winner on Saturday will advance to the Super Regional next weekend.
