MORROW, Ga. – The Columbus State University Women's Basketball team delivered a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon, rolling past Clayton State University 78-47 in Peach Belt Conference action at The Loch.
Columbus State took control early and never looked back, using balanced scoring, strong perimeter shooting, and aggressive defense to pull away. The Lady Cougars poured in 33 points in the second quarter to build a commanding halftime lead and continued to extend the margin behind consistent pressure on both ends of the floor. Columbus State knocked down 14 three-pointers, forced 28 Clayton State turnovers, and received 42 points from the bench.
Alana Hankerson led the Lady Cougars with 15 points, while
Simone Lett added 12 points and five rebounds.
Samara Saunders scored 11 points, and
Aaliyah Ferrell and
Madison Reese each provided key contributions.
With the win, the Lady Cougars improve to 8-2 overall and 3-1 in Peach Belt Conference play. Columbus State returns home to continue conference action on Wednesday, December 17, hosting Augusta University inside the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center.
