COLUMBUS – Columbus State Men's Basketball senior
Marlon Smith was named Columbus State Athletics Athlete of the Week, presented by Chick-fil-A on Macon Road and Manchester Expressway, after a big week on the court for the Cougars.
Smith put together two strong performances, averaging 25.0 points and 9.5 rebounds while shooting an efficient 63 percent from the field.
He opened the week with a double-double against Thomas on December 18, finishing with 23 points and 10 rebounds in just 23 minutes. Smith followed that up with a season-high 27 points against Augusta on December 20, knocking down five three-pointers, going a perfect 6-for-6 at the free-throw line, and grabbing nine rebounds.
A senior from Miami, Fla., Smith attended Miami Carol City Senior High School and is majoring in Business Administration. He continues to be a steady presence for the Cougars, leading the way with his scoring, rebounding, and experience during conference play.
