#11 Women’s Tennis Produces Pair of Victories at Home

COLUMBUS – Columbus State women's tennis hosted Belmont Abbey (N.C.) and Montevallo (Ala.) on Saturday for a doubleheader at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.

The No. 11-ranked Lady Cougars (4-2) took down the Crusaders (4-9) of Belmont Abbey in a 4-0 defeat to begin the day at 9 a.m. and followed with a 6-1 defeat of the Falcons (2-3) from Montevallo to close the day.

Against the Crusaders, Columbus State opened with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles as Nikoline Gullacksen and Mariana Ramirez took a 6-1 win while Laura Pesickova and Annie Adams secured a 6-4 victory. No. 3 doubles was left unfinished as did three of the six singles matches. Ramirez took wins of 6-0 and 6-1 in No. 2 singles followed by Isadora Oliveira's two wins of 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Sofia Lauretti wrapped up No. 6 singles with two 6-0 wins to help secure three singles points for CSU.

As for the Montevallo match, CSU swept all three doubles matches 6-1, 6-2, and 6-2 wins from No. 1, 2, and 3 doubles, respectively. Columbus State secured singles wins from Gullacksen, Pesickova, Oliveira, Lauretti, and Majra Djokic with Ramirez dropping No. 2 singles for the Falcons' lone point.
