COLUMBUS, GA. – Columbus State University softball defeated USC Aiken 6-1 in game one of the series on Friday afternoon.

After the Lady Cougars opened the game with three quick outs at the plate, USC Aiken opened the bottom first with a home run to right field. CSU responded with a run to tie the game after Holly Lynn opened the second inning with a home run. Madison McDonald ripped a triple to center field, but the Lady Cougars were unable to bring her home.
Gracyn Gurley opened the third inning with a home run down the line to give CSU a 2-1 lead. Avery Hays opened the fourth inning with a double to right field followed by a double from McDonald. Two back-to-back ground outs allowed Hays and McDonald to come home and give CSU a 4-1 lead.
In the sixth inning, USC Aiken walked McDonald and Mary-Catherine Sorrell allowing Gurley to bring them both home after ripping a double to center field.
