MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Columbus State softball traveled to Montgomery, Ala. on Tuesday afternoon for a doubleheader against fifth-ranked Auburn-Montgomery.
The Lady Cougars (24-13) fell to the Warhawks (22-7) 2-1 in game one and 6-0 in game two at the AUM Softball Complex.

Columbus State struggled offensively in the first two frames as the Warhawks held the Lady Cougars scoreless.
Julianna Franklin and the CSU fielders held tough for the first two innings as well.
The Lady Cougars struck first in the third inning with a lead-off homer coming off the bat of
Izzy Ripatti.
Mary-Catherine Sorrell followed with a base hit to left field, but after a walk from
Holly Lynn, CSU left a pair stranded with a three-run lead. AUM took advantage of two errors and a base hit to claim a 2-1 advantage in the bottom half of the inning.
The next three innings would result in scoreless affairs for both sides with the Lady Cougars having three outs to extend the game in the top of the seventh.
Madison McDonald earned a two-out walk with Ripatti following with single. Unfortunately, a fly out would go on to shut down the potential comeback efforts from the visitors.

The Warhawks' bats lit up in the second game for an 11-1 advantage in hits. Columbus State's lone hit came in the top of the second as a two-out single up the middle from McDonald.
Auburn-Montgomery opened the game with an RBI single in the first inning and followed with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly to move to a three-run lead after the second frame. With a scoreless third to follow, AUM recorded another run with a two-hit inning in the fourth. The Warhawks managed to produce two more runs in the bottom of the sixth, scoring off a double and a single down the left-field line.
