COLUMBUS – Columbus State women's basketball hosted Georgia Southwestern for the Peach Belt Conference Tournament Quarterfinals on Wednesday night.
The two-seeded Lady Cougars fell to seven-seeded Canes 77-78. With this loss, The Lady Cougars await postseason plans for a potential bid to regionals.
First Quarter
After a scoreless opening two minutes, Letiya Reeves gets on the board first, followed by a three-pointer from Zuzuanna Rudenko. The Lady Cougars went on a 15-0 run to up 18-4 on the Canes. Rudenko led the quarter with seven points followed with five points apiece from Aaliyah Ferrell and Bre'Lyn Snipes.
Second Quarter
Reeves opened the quarter with a three-pointer to go up 30-8. The Canes were able to lessen the deficit to thirteen points as four minutes remained on the clock. The Lady Cougars struggled to get points on the board for the remainder of the half as they shot 4-16 from the field.

Third Quarter
Snipes splashed a three-pointer followed by a lay-up for her thirteenth point of the game. Rudenko entered double digits points after a successful driving hook shot put her on the foul line for one more point. Two three-pointers for GSW brought the score to a nine point game.
Fourth Quarter
The Canes began to outplay the Lady Cougars as they decreased the deficit to just two points. GSW did not hold the two point deficit until Reeves hit her second three-pointer for the night. The Lady Cougars struggled on the defensive end as they continued to give up points at the line. As two minutes remained, GSW brought the deficit to one point. The Canes took their first lead of the game with seventy seconds on the clock, but did not hold it for long after Olonna Rawls made two free throws. A driving lay-up for the Canes gave them a 74-73 lead with thirty-seven seconds on the clock.

The Lady Cougars finished shooting for 25-of-65 (38.5%) from the field, 9-of-21 (42.9%) from the three, and 75.0% (18-of-24) from the foul line.

Rawls led with 17 points followed by Rudenko with 16 points, Snipes with 13 and Reeves with 11.

GSW outscored CSU in the second half 50-39, allowing them to take the lead in the final seconds and win the game.
