COLUMBUS - No. 10-ranked and third-seeded Columbus State University women's tennis advanced to the Peach Belt Conference Women's Tennis Championship match with a 4-1 victory over second-seeded and No. 7-ranked Flagler (Fla.) in Saturday's semifinal at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
The Lady Cougars (15-5) secured the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 1 positions.
Isadora Oliveira and
Laura Pesickova defeated Adela Latalova and Sofia Balsera 6-3 on court two, before
Nikoline Gullacksen and
Mariana Ramirez clinched the point with a 6-4 win over Dana Heimen and Anastasia Nikolova at No. 1 doubles. The No. 3 doubles match was left unfinished with CSU leading 5-4.
In singles play, Ramirez extended the lead with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Nikolova at No. 2. Flagler (19-5) answered with Latalova's 6-3, 6-4 win over Pesickova at No. 3, but CSU pulled away from there. Oliveira pushed the Lady Cougars ahead 3-1 by defeating Balsera 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 5, and Gullacksen sealed the match with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Heimen at No. 1. The matches at No. 4 and No. 6 singles were unfinished.

- Columbus State will face top-seeded North Georgia in the PBC Championship match on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. The Lady Cougars will be seeking to avenge a narrow 4-3 loss to the Nighthawks earlier this season.
