DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Led by an event title from Sarah Arnold, the Columbus State University women's track and field team turned in a solid first day at the 2025 Peach Belt Conference Championships on Monday.

The Lady Cougars sit at fifth in the team standings with eight scored events completed, holding 24 team points.

Montgomery sprinted to a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash preliminaries, crossing in 11.50s to qualify for Tuesday's final. She followed it up with a second-place performance in the 200-meter prelims, running 24.61s to punch her ticket to another final.

Arnold delivered the Lady Cougars' first event victory of the meet, clearing 3.05 meters to capture the pole vault title and earn 10 crucial team points. Columbus State dominated the event, with Faith O'Neal placing second (2.90m) and Amber Johnson taking fifth (2.90m). Alesia Johnson also scored with a seventh-place finish at 2.75 meters.

On the track, Liza Varnum qualified for finals in two events. Varnum ran 15.40s in the 100-meter hurdles prelims to finish seventh and followed that with a third-place effort in the 400-meter hurdles prelims, clocking 1:06.55.

In the field events, Jamelaah Mosley placed 10th in the long jump (4.55 meters), and Shania Pinnock followed in 11th at 4.50 meters.

Columbus State will look to build off its strong day one showing as the meet continues on Tuesday.
