Lady Cougars Head to Harrogate for NCAA Southeast Regional

The No. 4-seeded Columbus State University Women’s Basketball team will begin its run in the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship when the Lady Cougars travel to Harrogate, Tenn.

COLUMBUS — The No. 4-seeded Columbus State University Women's Basketball team will begin its run in the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship when the Lady Cougars travel to Harrogate, Tenn., to compete in the Southeast Regional hosted by Lincoln Memorial University. Columbus State will face No. 5-seeded Carson-Newman on Friday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m. inside the B. Frank "Tex" Turner Arena.

Columbus State enters the tournament with a 25-4 overall record after capturing the Peach Belt Conference Regular-Season Championship and advancing to the conference tournament semifinals. The NCAA appearance marks the second consecutive season the Lady Cougars have earned a berth in the national tournament.

The Lady Cougars are led by Peach Belt Conference Coach of the Year Matt Houser and Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year Letiya Reeves. Under Houser's leadership, Columbus State has continued to build on its success, combining a high-powered offense with strong defensive play throughout the season.

Reeves has been the centerpiece of the Lady Cougars' success, leading Columbus State with consistent scoring and leadership on the court. Her performance throughout the season helped guide the program to its conference regular-season title and another appearance on the national stage.

Columbus State will take on Carson-Newman in the opening round of the regional, with the winner advancing to the semifinals of the eight-team Southeast Regional bracket.

Fans are encouraged to show their support for the Lady Cougars before they depart for the tournament. Columbus State Athletics will host a team send-off on Wednesday, March 11, at 1:00 p.m. at the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center. Supporters are invited to attend and wish the team well as they head to Harrogate, Tenn., for NCAA Tournament competition.
