Columbus State University Athletics continued its tradition of excellence during the 2025-26 academic year, finishing second in the Peach Belt Conference David R. Brunk Commissioner’s Cup standings.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. — Columbus State University Athletics continued its tradition of excellence during the 2025-26 academic year, finishing second in the Peach Belt Conference David R. Brunk Commissioner's Cup standings, as announced Tuesday evening at the league's annual awards dinner.

Columbus State posted a .743 rating in the final standings, finishing just .046 points behind overall winner University of North Georgia. The runner-up finish marked the Cougars' 21st consecutive top-three finish in the prestigious all-sports standings.

The Cougars captured Peach Belt Conference championships in women's basketball, men's tennis and women's tennis during the 2025-26 season, while also earning runner-up finishes in men's basketball and men's golf.

Columbus State's women's basketball program secured the Peach Belt Conference regular-season championship under head coach Matt Houser, while both tennis programs continued their conference dominance under head coach Evan Isaacs with PBC titles on the men's and women's sides.

The Brunk Commissioner's Cup recognizes the top overall athletic department in the Peach Belt Conference and is determined by a points system based on regular-season standings and select championship results in conference-sponsored sports. Cross country, golf and track & field are scored based on conference championship finishes.

North Georgia claimed the 2025-26 Commissioner's Cup after earning conference championships in men's soccer, women's soccer, baseball and softball. Flagler College finished third in the final standings.

The award was renamed in honor of former Peach Belt Conference Commissioner David R. Brunk following his retirement in 2025 after serving 18 years as commissioner.
