As a student-athlete at Columbus State University, you have certain responsibilities to uphold and you should be aware that often more is expected of you than is expected of other students. Consequently, we ask that you think before you act and ask questions whenever in doubt.

Eligibility for Practice & Competition 
All student-athletes must meet the following requirements in order to be eligible for practice and competition: 
 
Compliance 
• Eligibility Meeting: PowerPoint discussion of the NCAA, conference and institutional rules, regulations and policies. All assigned NCAA, PBC and institutional paperwork must be completed and approved prior to any participation with our NCAA Intercollegiate athletic teams.
• NCAA Initial Eligibility Center Academic and Amateurism Certification (freshmen only) 
• NCAA Eligibility Center Certification Amateurism (transfers) 


Sports Medicine 
• Physical from a Columbus State physician 
• Insurance paperwork 
• Pre-participation physical exam 
• Pre-participation Health Questionnaire 
• Valid Health Insurance Coverage

Academic 
 • Registered as a full-time students (12 credit hours per semester) 
The Compliance Office works with the appropriate university academic authorities (Faculty Athletics Representative, Academic Advisors and the University Registrars office) in order to make sure that each student-athlete is making progress toward their degree. 

Financial Aid 
The Compliance Office will work with Office of Financial Aid regarding all athletic scholarships, institutional aid and outside aid to determine whether everything is permissible and allowable and within institutional limits.
