Billy Kerwien is entering his third season with the Columbus State softball program in the 2024-25 year. He was named Assistant Coach in August 2024 after serving two seasons as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the Cougars.
In the two seasons that Kerwien was a Graduate Assistant, the Cougars were Peach Belt Conference Regular-Season Co-Champions (2023), Peach Belt Conference Tournament Champions (2024) and made two NCAA Southeast Regional appearances. He helped coach seven All-PBC players, including the 2023 PBC Pitcher of the Year Hannah Rose Corbin, and two All-Americans, Kenzie Bayer and Corbin. Kerwien was apart of the 2023 team that went a perfect 24-0 in the regular-season at Cougar Field.
Kerwien previously attended Misericordia University in Dallas, Pa. from 2016-2020. At Misericordia, he was a part of 3 Tournament Conference Championships, 2 Regular Season Championships, 2 Regional Championships, a Super Regional Appearance, and a Division III World Series appearance. Kerwien was named All-MAC Second Team at second base his junior year and unfortunately lost his senior season to the COVID-19 pandemic.Â
Kerwien graduated Cum Laude in May 2020 with a B.S. in Accounting and will graduate with a Masters Degree in Physical Education in December 2024.
