Abbey Goodsell

Abbey Goodsell is entering her third season and the first as the assistant women's basketball coach for the Columbus State University women's basketball program in 2021-22. After two years as the graduate assistant coach for the Cougars, Goodsell was named the assistant coach in the summer of 2021.  

Goodsell arrived in Columbus from the west coast after a storied playing career in California.  

A two-time All-PacWest player at NCAA Division II Azusa Pacific University, Goodsell was the floor general for one of the top programs in the nation. In her two seasons, she averaged 15.8 points and 4.8 assists per game while leading the Cougars to a 27-5 record over her senior season.

Goodsell was also a 3-point specialist shooting above 35 percent in her time at Azusa Pacific making 160 in 57 games.  She ranked among the Division II leaders in 3-pointers made and assists in both seasons.

Before Azusa Pacific, Goodsell played a season at Division I Sacramento State appearing in 24 games. She averaged 4.8 points per game while scoring a season-high 15 against Eastern Washington.

She also made a stop at Long Beach Community College where she was named the South Coast Conference South Division Player of the Year and also earned a spot on the CCCAA All-State first team. Over the year, Goodsell averaged 13.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game.  

Goodsell played professionally overseas with the UL Huskies of the Ireland Women's Division I Basketball League. During her time in Ireland, Goodsell also coached the Huskies U-10 and U-14 teams as well as assisting with the U-16-18 and U-20 teams. 

A Yorba Linda, Calif. native, Goodsell graduated with a bachelor's degree in communication from Azusa Pacific in 2018. She is now pursuing her master's degree in public administration at Columbus State.
