William Auman is entering his first season as a graduate assistant coach with the Columbus State University women's basketball program.
Auman joins the Lady Cougars staff after spending the past year at Combine Academy, a national level prep academy in Matthews, N.C. There, he helped establish one of the region's premiere women's prep/post-graduate teams.
Prior to Combine, Auman enjoyed a two-year stint as the top women’s assistant coach at USCAA DII Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, N.C. where he also helped establish the first varsity women’s basketball program in campus history. Auman helped the women's basketball program set a JWU record for wins in an inaugural season and develop the first USCAA All-American in program history.
Before Johnson & Wales, Auman spent two years as an assistant coach for the men’s program at NCAA Division III Elms College in Chicopee, Mass. During his time at Elms, the Blazers experienced back-to-back NECC Conference regular season titles and one conference tournament title, while making appearances in the NCAA Division III national and ECAC regional post-season tournaments.
Prior to his time at Elms,  Auman worked all four years as an undergraduate as team manager at the University of North Carolina at Asheville where he was responsible for practice participation, team organization, film exchange and equipment management. His experience also included two Big South Championships and two NCAA tournament appearances. In the fall of 2008, he took on the responsibility of coaching at Veritas Christian Academy where he was head coach of the middle school team and an assistant on the high school varsity staff.
Auman has spent years working at various camps throughout the east coast such as National Point Guard Camp, Hornets Hoops and World Sports Camp in locations from, Atlanta to Northampton, Ma. In addition, he has also worked stints at two Euro League Exposure Camps and skills camps at universities such as Wofford, Clemson and Wake Forest.
A native of Asheville, N.C., Auman graduated from UNC Asheville in 2012 with a degree in mass communication.
