Anthony McWilliams enters his 17th season with the Columbus State cross country and track & field programs in 2026-27 and his third as a full-time assistant coach.
McWilliams began his coaching career with the Cougars in 2010 as a Volunteer Student Assistant Coach when the track and field program was established. He was hired as a part-time assistant coach in 2015 before being elevated to a full-time assistant coach in 2024.
Throughout his tenure, McWilliams has helped develop numerous All-Americans and All-Region performers while assisting the Cougars' success in the Peach Belt Conference and NCAA Southeast Region. His responsibilities include coaching sprinters, recruiting, meet operations, photography, and writing meet recaps.
A native of Fort Benning, Georgia, McWilliams was a standout track and field athlete at William H. Spencer High School. He also served in the United States Army for 13 years and competed in track and field while stationed in Hawaii for four years.
McWilliams earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from Columbus State University.
He and his wife, Marie, have four children: Keyanna, Trevon, Ameleah, and Jasmine.
