Shanila Chapman

Serving as the men’s and women's track team volunteer assistant coach at Columbus State University since 2020, Shanila Chapman has held the role of jumps coach.

During her three years with the program, Columbus State Track & Field has captured three conference second place finishes, the men placed second in 2022 and 2023. She helped coach the women to a second-place finish 2023, their highest placing in school history. Chapman also oversaw a group of talented jumpers who captured PBC championships in their individual events, Nate Blackmon 2021 PBC Long Jump Champion, Jackson Fulks 2021 PBC Triple Jump Champion, Gavin Nembhard 2022 PBC Triple Jump Champion, and Jackson Fulks 2023 PBC Long Jump Champion.

Chapman is a Military Brat raised in Büdingen, Germany and Fort Benning, Georgia where she attended Chattahoochee County High School and Columbus State University. At Chattco High School Chapman was a standout track athlete, she was a 3-time state qualifier and holds several school records. At Columbus State University, Chapman joined the track and field team in the Fall of 2013 under Coach J.D. Evilsizer, and assistant coach Anthony McWilliams.

In 2018, Chapman won the 100m Peach Belt Conference championship title, and led the team to a 4x100m relay conference title. Chapman is also a 2-time Track and Field Nationals Qualifier, and 5-time USTFCCCA All Region Honoree. In 2015, Chapman led the women’s 4x400m relay team to a third-place finish at the PBC Conference Championship, in 2017 Chapman placed 3rd in the 100m and 200m PBC Conference Championships. She was also a member of the USTFCCA All-Academic Team.

Chapman graduated from CSU in 2018 with a bachelor's in Sociology and is currently working on her master's degree in Dietetics.

Chapman still runs today, she is a member of Most Valuable Athletics, out of Columbus, Georgia.
