Joseph Sawyer is entering his seventh year as the Academic Advisor for the Columbus State University Athletics Department during the 2024-25 academic year.
In his role, Sawyer provides information on careers, degrees, classes and tutorial services to CSU student-athletes.
Sawyer joined Columbus State as an Academic Advisor and Retention Specialist. He has advised students in a wide variety of majors during his time with CSU. As well as advising student-athletes, Sawyer is the liaison for military members who are stationed at Fort Benning.
Sawyer received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice and master's in organizational leadership from Columbus State. He began his professional career at Total Systems in Columbus. Sawyer's involvement with the private business sector and the University enables him to determine the needs of student-athletes and provide a plan of action for success.
