Greeneville, Tenn. - Three goals in each half propelled the sixth-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer team past Tusculum College 6-1 Wednesday afternoon. The match was played at Pioneer Field in Greeneville, Tenn.

Senior Kelsey Pelletier powered the Columbus State (5-0-1) offense as she tallied two goals and two assists on the afternoon.

The Duluth, Ga. native started the scoring in the 14th minute taking a pass from Nicole Corcione and burying it inside the right post. The goal was her first of the year.

Less than 60 seconds later, Ashley Miller netted her first goal of the season from nearly 25 yards out to stretch the lead to two.

The score held at 2-0 until the 30th minute when Chelsea Person fed Kiana Nicholson who beat the keeper to the far left post for the goal.

After the break, Shannele Sunderland put Tusculum on the board scoring off of a CSU turnover in minute 59.

It remained 3-1 until the final seven minutes, when the Lady Cougars tallied three more goals.

Preseason All-Peach Belt Conference selection Corcione started the late barrage in the 84th minute with her first goal of 2014 with an assist from Pelletier.

Pelletier set another scoring chance up 28 seconds later, this time finished off by Person. It was the third goal in the last two games for the reigning PBC Women's Soccer Player of the Week.

The same combination struck again just before the match ended, however this time reversed. Pelletier scored her second of the match off a pass from Person for the final Lady Cougar goal.

Columbus State tripled the shot output of the Pioneers, firing 27 times at the net compared to just nine for Tusculum.

Maylyn Parsons played a scoreless first half in goal to earn the victory before giving way to Meosha Hatcher after halftime.

Columbus State concludes a six-match road stretch on Saturday, September 27 as they jump back into conference play against USC Aiken. Kickoff from Aiken, S.C. is set for 1:00 p.m.
