MORROW, Ga. - Behind a pair of goals in each half, the 17th-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer team defeated Clayton State 4-0 on Saturday night. The Peach Belt Conference match was played at Laker Field in Morrow, Ga.

The win is the eighth straight for Columbus State (11-2-1, 6-0-1) which remains atop the conference standings.

Cassandra Wade struck first for the Lady Cougars, scoring the first of two goals in a two-minute span. The sophomore collected the ball after a carom and found the back of the net in the 20th minute for her fourth tally of the year.

Less than two minutes later, Chelsea Person set up a fast break chance for Nicole Corcione. The reigning NSCAA National Player of the Week tucked the ball past the keeper and extended the lead out to 2-0. The goal was the 11th of the season for the junior from Candler, N.C.

The Lady Cougars outshot the Lakers 12-4 over the first 45 minutes of play.

Taylor Marks kept the scoring going quickly after the halftime break. The junior got loose on the right side and hammered one home just over 100 seconds into the second period.

Claire Belay capped the scoring in the 74th minute. The junior headed home a pass from Andi Larese for her second goal of the year.
