COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University women's basketball team will play its first home game of the season on Sunday, as the Lady Cougars welcome in Carson-Newman. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. inside the Lumpkin Center.

Columbus State (2-0) completed a perfect weekend at the PBC/SIAC Challenge with a 76-53 win over Fort Valley State last Saturday afternoon. Five different Lady Cougars scored in double figures led by

Britteny Tatum and
Tatiana Wayne, who all finished with 13 points.

Sunday's game will be the 11th all-time meeting between the two programs. The Eagles hold a 6-4 edge in the series, including a victory on their home floor one year ago.

Columbus State's defense has been suffocating through its first two games. The Lady Cougars are allowing just 54.5 points per game to start the season.

CSU limited its two opponents to just 24.8 percent shooting from the field and forced 64 turnovers. The Lady Cougars turned those turnovers into 56 points.

Alexis Carter dominated the opening weekend for CSU, recording double-doubles in both contests and averaging 16.5 points and 10 rebounds.

Columbus State has been stout on its home floor. CSU lost its most recent contest in the Lumpkin Center, last year's PBC Championship, but the Lady Cougars had won 32 straight prior.
