COLUMBUS – In its final tune up before Peach Belt Conference play begins, the top-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer team hits the road to take on Lee University on Wednesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Lee Soccer Field in Cleveland, Tenn.

Columbus State is off to a 3-0-0 start to the season following a 5-0 rout at Lynn University on Friday night. Mandy Janowitz led the high-powered offensive attack with a pair of first half goals.

The Lady Cougars had their most recent contest cancelled due to rain after playing just 44 minutes in the first half at Barry on Sunday.

"Lee is a very talented team," head coach Jay Entlich said. "Chris Hennessey does an outstanding job and they have always played us tough.

"We need to continue improving our play, especially at the start of the game, if we want to come back with a win."

Series History

Wednesday's contest will be the fourth overall meeting between the two programs. CSU and Lee have played in each of the Lady Flames' three years at the NCAA Division II level. Columbus State defeated Lee 5-2 last season as part of the CSU Collegiate Invitational.

About Lee

Lee (2-1-1) opened the season in Columbus at the annual CSU Collegiate Invitational. The Lady Flames played Wingate to a 0-0 draw before falling to 10th-ranked Bellarmine 1-0. LU got into the win column last week, defeating Lees-McRae and Lincoln Memorial, both by 4-0 margins.

McKenzie Bricker, Summer Lanter and Kaela Leskovar each have a pair of goals on the season to pace the Lady Flames. Erin Olson started the two victories in goal for Lee, stopping all five shots on goal she faced.

CSU Notes

The Lady Cougars are off to another fast start in 2016, with 10 goals through three matches. Janowitz, along with Nicole Corcione and Cassandra Wade, lead the way with two goals apiece. Seven different Lady Cougars have already tallied a goal, with 12 players picking up at least one point.

CSU has been strong on the opposite end of the pitch as well, surrendering just one goal through 270 minutes of play. Senior goalkeeper Maylyn Parsons holds a 0.43 goals against average in her final season in net.

Wednesday will wrap up a three-match road swing for the Lady Cougars before they open up conference play on Saturday against USC Aiken at the Walden Soccer Complex.
