Lady Cougars Travel for Showdown Against UWF

COLUMBUS – The 13th-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer team will play its final non-conference match of the season Wednesday as it travels down to Pensacola, Fla. to take on West Florida. The match will begin at 5 p.m. at the UWF Soccer Complex.
 
Last Time Out
 
The Lady Cougars failed to find the back of the net for the first time this season falling 1-0 to UNC Pembroke on the road. The loss snapped CSU's 34-match PBC unbeaten streak and was just the second win for Braves over Columbus State in the last 18 meetings.
 
Entlich on Matchup
 
"We need to get back on track Wednesday, but we don't have an easy task ahead of us. West Florida is always one of the most talented teams in the nation and they can score goals in bunches. For us, we have to play with more consistency every time we step on the pitch and finish off opportunities that we get on goal."
 
Series History
 
West Florida is one of the few teams to tout a winning record over Columbus State, boasting a perfect 4-0-0 mark against the Lady Cougars. In Pensacola, the Argonauts are 2-0-0 against CSU.
 
Last Meeting
 
It was a top-15 showdown to kick off the 2013 season as No. 13 Columbus State opened the season against top-ranked West Florida in Savannah. The match wasn't decided in regulation after both teams found the back of the goal twice in the first 90 minutes. In the final second of the first overtime period, UWF chipped a goal into the net for the victory.
 
About West Florida
 
West Florida will enter the match with a 6-2 record after having won five straight matches. The Argos began the season with a 4-0 victory over then- ranked 15th Tampa but took a loss against a ranked Rollins opponent. Since then, UWF has outscored its opponents 17-1 in its five victories.
 
As a team, UWF is 17th in the nation in scoring, averaging 2.88 goals per match. They have also scored a total of 23 goals, the 11th most in the country.
 
Marjorie Boilesen leads the way for UWF with six goals and six assists for 18 points. She is third in the nation in assists while also ranking inside the top 25 in goals scored.
 
The Argonauts have used two goalkeepers this year. Elizabeth Bankhead has started three matches sporting a 1.73 goals against average while Katelyn Burkhart has started five matches with a GAA of 0.22
 
CSU Notes
 
Columbus State is one of the top scoring offenses in the nation as well being the 14th-best scoring offense in Division II. The Lady Cougars average 3.0 goals per match, despite being shutout last time out.
 
Only five players in the Peach Belt Conference that have three or more assists and two of them are Lady Cougars. Freshman Flo Spano leads the conference with four helpers wile Mandy Janowitz is tied for second with three.
 
Spano is also fighting for the early PBC total point title. The freshman has 12 points, just one behind of Ella Hawkins of Georgia Southwestern.
