COLUMBUS – Playing in its annual Kicks for the Cure match, the 13th-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer team will host Lander on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Walden Soccer Complex.

Admission for Saturday's match is free, but donations will be accepted and the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. The Lady Cougars will be wearing pink jerseys, which will be auctioned off after the match.

Last Time Out

Columbus State (6-2-0, 2-1-0) defeated West Florida for the first time in program history on Wednesday, winning 3-2. Brooke Nail headed home a corner kick in the 66th minute to break a two-all tie and give the Lady Cougars the win.

Entlich on Matchup

"We need to build off the momentum from Wednesday's victory. Lander is always a tough match and Chris Ayer does a great job with that program. We need to come out strong so that we don't fall behind like we did last year."

Series History

Columbus State is 11-1-2 all-time against the Bearcats, including a 6-1-0 mark in Columbus. Lander's only victory at CSU came in 2012. The Lady Cougars defeated the Bearcats twice in 2015.

Last Meeting

Lander scored in the match's opening minute and added another goal to jump in front 2-0 during the 2015 Peach Belt Conference quarterfinals. From there, the Lady Cougars scored six unanswered goals to cruise into the next round.

About Lander

Lander (2-4-1, 1-1-1) earned its first conference victory of the season on Wednesday night, defeating Francis Marion 4-1. After a season-opening win over Emmanuel, the Bearcats lost four straight before tying Flagler.

Brianna Taylor leads Lander in goals with four tallies this season, but did not play in the victory over Francis Marion Wednesday. Taylor netted three of her four goals in the opener against Emmanuel.

Lander ranks as the third-lowest scoring team in the conference through its first seven matches. The Bearcats have scored just nine goals and have been shut out three times.

CSU Notes

Mandy Janowitz had a strong showing on Wednesday night at West Florida, tallying three assists. The senior became just the sixth player in program history to pick up at least three in a single match.

Janowitz now leads the PBC and ranks fifth in the country with six helpers on the season, while freshman Flo Spano is tied for second in the league with four.

Nail's game-winning strike on Wednesday was her second goal this season. The sophomore did not score during the 2015 season.

The Lady Cougars are beginning their longest homestand of the season. Starting Saturday, Columbus State will play three straight matches at the Walden Soccer Complex.
