MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Wrapping up the regular season, the eighth-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Georgia College on Saturday.

Columbus State finishes the regular season at 13-2-0 overall and 8-2-0 in Peach Belt Conference play. The Lady Cougars share the regular season title with North Georgia, which also went 8-2-0 in league play.

By virtue of a tiebreaker, the Lady Cougars will be the second seed in next week's PBC Tournament and will host seventh-seeded Lander in the quarterfinal round Tuesday.

"Give Georgia College a lot of credit," head coach Jay Entlich said. "They did a good job of making it difficult for us around the net and took advantage when they had opportunities offensively."

Columbus State dominated possession throughout the game, leading to a 22-10 edge in shots for the game.

CSU's best chances came in the second half, first off the foot of Hugrun Elvarsdottir. The senior let off a left-footed blast that required a diving save and Riley Clark nearly headed home the first goal only to watch it slide past the left post.

The shots kept coming for the Lady Cougars, but it was Georgia College (11-5-0, 7-3-0) that finally broke through in the 79th minute. Bria Riancho punched away a corner kick, but a follow-up shot trickled into the right side.

Two minutes later, a GC corner kick fell loose in the box and deflected over the line to double the score.

CSU wouldn't go away quietly however, as Olivia Jarrell added another tally to her season total off a pass from Kimmy May with less than seven minutes to play.

Cassandra Wade would get one more clean look to try and tie the match up, but the shot was saved and the Bobcats would hang on.
