AMERICUS, Ga. – The 15th-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer team raced past Georgia Southwestern 11-0 on Saturday. The Peach Belt Conference match was played at the GSW Soccer Field.

The 11 goals are the highest total scored by the Lady Cougars since scoring the same number in last seasons' matchup with GSW.

"We did a good job today of keeping possession and creating chances," head coach Jay Entlich said. "It was also a good opportunity for us to get everyone some time on the field and allow some players to rest."

Columbus State (8-1-0, 5-1-0 PBC) needed just over 10 minutes to crack the scoreboard for the first time as Kimmy May netted her third goal of the season. The freshman scored for the second time six minutes later to double the lead.

Olivia Jarrell made it 3-0 in the 18th minute, but the match would hold there until late in the first half.

Playing in her first match in more than two weeks, Riley Clark tallied a goal in the 40th minute, and Flo Spano scored a pair of goals in the final five minutes of the half to give CSU a 6-0 advantage at the break. In addition to her two goals, Spano had three assists on the afternoon.

Clark tallied again just after the break and then completed the hat trick in the 55th minute. It was the first hat trick of the season for the Lady Cougars.

Maddy Peterson, Meghan Cottingham and Parker Morgan all found the back of the net later in the match.

CSU outshot Georgia Southwestern (0-9-0, 0-5-0) 37-0 on the day. Saturday marked the first time the Lady Cougars have held an opponent without a shot since Oct. 6, 2010, also against GSW.

Bria Riancho, Adianna Ortiz and Camille Atkins all combined on the shutout in goal for the Lady Cougars.

Columbus State will be back at home on Wednesday night for a match against Young Harris. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Walden Soccer Complex.
