DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Closing out the regular season, the Columbus State University softball team dropped a pair of games at No. 9 North Georgia on Saturday. The Peach Belt Conference doubleheader was played at Hill Stadium.
Â
Columbus State (27-25-1, 12-12 PBC) fell 17-0 and 8-0 on Saturday. The Lady Cougars will now wait for their seeding for the upcoming PBC Tournament. They will play on Friday, April 21 in the quarterfinal round against an opponent still to be determined. The tournament is being hosted at Georgia College.
Â
Game One
Â
The Lady Cougars got a leadoff walk to start the game, but left
Keeli Waugh on first base.
Â
From there, the day belonged to North Georgia (40-10, 19-4). The Nighthawks scored five runs in the opening inning before getting two in the second and nine more in the third.
Â
Columbus State loaded the bases up in the third before a strikeout ended the frame. UNG would then tack on a solo homer before wrapping up the game in the fifth.
Â
Kia Smith and
Savanna Turvy had the lone hits for CSU.
Â
Game Two
Â
Both teams threatened in the first inning of Saturday's second game before missing out on the scoring chance.
Â
CSU used a single from

Â
North Georgia plated two in the bottom half of the second before getting one in the fourth, three in the fifth and ending the game early with two more in the sixth.
Â
Perdue went 2-for-3 to lead the CSU offense. The Lady Cougars left nine runners on in the game.
