AIKEN, S.C. – In its first match in 12 days, the second-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer team opened Peach Belt Conference play with a 4-0 win at USC Aiken on Saturday.

The Lady Cougars are now 3-0 on the season, and improved to a perfect 16-0-0 all-time against USC Aiken.

"We got off to a bit of a slow start," head coach Jay Entlich said. "We looked more like ourselves in the second half and you're happy any time you can get a result on the road."

Columbus State dominated possession throughout and started its offensive attack from the opening kickoff.

The first two shots were saved and two more missed wide before Cassandra Wade found the back of the net. The goal was the second of the year for the senior.

CSU would take nine shots in total in the first 45 minutes, however Wade's tally was the difference in the match at the half.

The offense would crank up though, getting three goals in a 10-minute stretch early in the second half.

The combination of Olivia Jarrell to Riley Clark worked in the 51st and 59th minutes, as Clark recorded her fourth and fifth goals of the year. Kimmy May then netted her first collegiate goal in the 60th minute off an assist from Maddy Peterson.

The Lady Cougars outshot the Pacers 20-6 on the day with Bria Riancho and Adianna Ortiz combining for CSU's second shutout in three matches. Riancho picked up the victory after playing the first 70 minutes in net.

Columbus State will now get set for its home opener against North Georgia Wednesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Walden Soccer Complex. Wednesday will be Burger King Sea of Red Night and all fans are encouraged to wear red to the match.
