COLUMBUS – The Columbus State University men's tennis team earned its fourth straight sweep to open the season with a 9-0 victory over Anderson on Wednesday. The match was played at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.

Columbus State improved to 4-0 on the season and has yet to lose a match this spring.

The second-ranked duo of
KP Pannu and
Alvaro Regalado got the day started with an 8-1 romp at first doubles. No. 24
Matei Avram and
Zach Whaanga tallied an 8-1 victory of their own at second doubles and
Shao-Yu Yu and
Arnold Kokulewski capped the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win.

CSU was just as strong in singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets.

Top-ranked Pannu worked quickly for a 6-2, 6-1 win at the top spot, while 18
th-ranked Whaanga won 6-2, 6-2 and No. 22 Regalado took it down 6-1, 6-0.

Paul Sprengelmeijer was victorious 6-2, 6-1 at fourth singles, with Avram reversing the score 6-1, 6-2 at fifth. Kokulewski made it a perfect night with a  7-5, 6-2 win in the sixth position.

Columbus State will start Peach Belt Conference play on Friday at ninth-ranked Lander. First serve is set for 2 p.m. in Greenwood, S.C.
