COLUMBUS – The Columbus State University women's tennis team stayed perfect on the season with a 9-0 victory on Wednesday over Anderson. The match was played at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
 
Columbus State (4-0) jumped in front with a 2-1 advantage following doubles play.
 
Beatriz Lopez and Noa Davico got on the board with an 8-3 win at the top spot and Giorgia Vitale teamed with Natalia Kattah Paz for an 8-1 win at third doubles.
 
Anderson (2-4) picked up its only win of the day at second doubles, taking down Candice Paya and Marleen Tilgner 8-6.
 
The Lady Cougars were perfect in singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets.
 
Lopez grabbed a ranked win 6-1, 7-6 at first singles, while Davico won 6-1, 6-2 at second and Vitale 6-3, 6-1 at third. Fourteenth-ranked Paya didn't drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at fourth singles.
 
Tilgner cruised 6-3, 6-2 at the fifth spot and Luise Sachs turned in a 6-1, 6-4 victory in the sixth position.
 
Columbus State opens Peach Belt Conference play this weekend, taking on Lander on Friday. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Greenwood, S.C.
