GREENWOOD, S.C. – The third-ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team began Peach Belt Conference play on Friday with a 9-0 sweep at Lander. The match was played in Greenwood, S.C.
 
Columbus State (5-0, 1-0 PBC) stayed perfect on the season with its third 9-0 victory in five matches.
 
The Lady Cougars rolled through doubles play, losing just four games over the three matches.
 
Noa Davico and Beatriz Lopez raced past their opponents 8-1 at the top doubles position, with Marleen Tilgner and Candice Paya winning 8-3 in the second spot. Giorgia Vitale and Natalia Kattah Paz were perfect at third doubles, taking the match 8-0.
 
Davico played at the top singles spot for the Lady Cougars and rolled to a 6-3, 6-0 win. Vitale took second singles 6-1, 6-1 with No. 14 Paya following 6-2, 6-2 at third.
 
Tilgner won her match at fourth singles 6-0, 6-2 with Luise Sachs dropping just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 win in the fifth position and Kattah Paz tallying a 6-2, 6-0 win in the final spot.
 
Columbus State stays on the road and will take on Young Harris on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
