ATLANTA – The Columbus State University track & field teams traveled to Atlanta Friday and Saturday for the Emory Classic.
 
The Cougars tallied 72 points, scoring in nine different events to finish in third place overall. The Lady Cougars ended with 29 points in 13^th place.
 
A pair of school records fell on Friday evening, as the men's and women's distance medley teams set new top marks.
 
The quartet of Jastonie Hill, Paris Warner, Semia Houston and Alli Hay put a time of 12:44.71 on the board for a second-place finish. Charles Asouzu, Christopher Miles, Noah Churchwell and Noah Hollis posted a time of 10:31.07 to also take second.
 
Javian Williams had a strong weekend as well, taking the top spot in the triple jump, placing fourth in the long jump and running the second leg of the winning 4x100 relay team.
 
Xavier Matthews, Mitchell Morand and D'Andre Hall joined Williams to win the 4x100 for the Cougars. Matthews and Hall each placed in the 100 and 200 meters as well.
 
Shanila Champan was the fastest Lady Cougar on the track Saturday, taking fifth in both the 100 and 200 meters.
 
It's right back to Atlanta and Emory for the two teams next weekend for the two-day Emory Invitational.
