COLUMBUS – The 13
th-ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team added another huge victory to its tally on Sunday, downing previously unbeaten and second-ranked West Florida 7-2. The nonconference match was played at the John W. Walden CSU Tennis Center.

Columbus State (13-1) now has three straight ranked wins over the last five days, including victories over the No. 2 and No. 4 teams nationally.

CSU's day got off to a big start with a pair of dominant doubles performances and a big upset to jump in front 3-0.

Beatriz Lopez and
Noa Davico blanked the opposition 8-0 at second doubles and
Giorgia Vitale and
Marleen Tilgner were nearly perfect in an 8-1 win at third.

Natalia Kattah Paz and
Candice Paya snagged a giant win, taking down the fourth-ranked duo in the country 8-5.

The momentum carried over into singles play, as the Lady Cougars won four of the six matches.

Lopez rolled at the top spot, scoring a 6-2, 6-1 win over the fifth-ranked played in Division II. Paya and Tilgner also won in straight sets at fourth and fifth singles, respectively.

After dropping the opening set,
Luise Sachs rallied back and added another victory to the ledger for CSU with a 1-6, 7-6, 10-7 win at sixth singles.

Davico and Vitale each fell in straight sets for the only two points of the day for the Argos.

The Lady Cougars return to Peach Belt Conference action next weekend with home matches Friday against USC Aiken and Saturday versus Francis Marion. First serve Friday is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
