PENSACOLA, Fla. – Wrapping up the regular season, the third-ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 match against fifth-ranked Hawaii Pacific on Saturday. The nonconference match was played at the University of West Florida.

Columbus State finishes up the regular season at 19-2 and is the No. 1 seed in next week's Peach Belt Conference Tournament.

The Lady Cougars fell behind in doubles play on Saturday after HPU picked up wins at first and second doubles.

Natalia Kattah Paz and
Candice Paya lost 8-4 at the top spot, while
Beatriz Lopez and
Noa Davico fell by the same score at two.

However,
Giorgia Vitale and
Marleen Tilgner got CSU on the board with an 8-4 win of their own at third doubles.

Singles play went in similar fashion, as Hawaii Pacific controlled the top matches.

Lopez dropped a tough 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 match in a battle of top-five players at first singles. Davico lost 6-2, 6-0 in another ranked matchup at second, and Paya fell 6-1, 6-3 to a ranked opponent as well at third. Vitale also lost at fourth 6-3, 6-1.

Tilgner put another point on the board for the Lady Cougars at fifth singles, winning 6-0, 6-1.
Luise Sachs fought for a 3-6, 6-4, 10-7 win as well at sixth.

The PBC Tournament starts with Friday's quarterfinals and will be played at Francis Marion in Florence, S.C.
