FLORENCE, S.C. – The fourth-ranked and top-seeded Columbus State University women's tennis team rolled past eighth-seeded Francis Marion 5-1 on Friday in the quarterfinal round of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. The tournament is being played at Francis Marion.
 
Columbus State (20-2) advances into Saturday's semifinal round, where it will take on fifth-seeded Flagler at 9 a.m.
 
The Lady Cougars were rolling on Friday with three easy doubles victories. Marleen Tilgner and Giorgia Vitale started the day with an 8-0 sweep at third doubles. Candice Paya and Natalia Kattah Paz rolled 8-1 at the top spot and Noa Davico and Beatriz Lopez completed doubles with an 8-4 win at second.
 
Francis Marion (9-9) won its only point with a victory over Davico at first singles, but the Lady Cougars quickly clinched the match with wins at five and six.
 
Luise Sachs took down fifth singles 6-4, 6-1 and Kattah Paz closed the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win at sixth.
 
Second, third and fourth singles were left unfinished with Columbus State up a set in all three matches.
