COLUMBUS – The postseason journey starts on Friday for the Columbus State University softball team, as the Lady Cougars begin play at the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. The two-day tournament will be played at North Georgia in Dahlonega.

Columbus State (31-18, 14-6 PBC) is the No. 3 seed in this year's tournament. The Lady Cougars will take on sixth-seeded Flagler in the quarterfinals on Friday, with first pitch scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

CSU and Flagler met on March 31 in St. Augustine, Fla., with the Lady Cougars sweeping the doubleheader 4-2 and 6-0.
Darby Demarest tossed a complete game in the opener with
Peyton Sorrells tossing six scoreless innings in the second.
Calli Star led the offense with a 4-for-6 day, reaching base in 6-of-8 plate appearances.

Flagler (26-26, 9-11) finished sixth in the PBC regular season standings. The Saints struggled closing out the season, losing 10 of their final 15 games.

CSU owns five conference tournament championships in program history, most recently winning in 2012 and 2013. The Lady Cougars have reached the championship game is three of their last four appearances.

Columbus State's 31 wins this season are their highest total since 2014, while the third-place regular season finish is the best for the program since 2011.

The Lady Cougars ranked second in the PBC during the regular season in doubles, home runs, RBIs, extra-base hits, total bases and slugging percentage. CSU was the top team in each of those categories and led the conference in runs during league play.

The four quarterfinal games will be played on Friday, with the semifinals and championship scheduled for Saturday. The winner of Columbus State's quarterfinal will take on the winner of Georgia College and Augusta on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the championship set for 3 p.m.
