COLUMBUS – The fifth-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer team will hit the road for the first time this season with a pair of matches scheduled in the Sunshine State.

Columbus State (2-0-0) will play at Nova Southeastern at 7 p.m. on Friday night and at Rollins Sunday morning at 11 a.m.

The Lady Cougars got off to a perfect start with wins over Embry-Riddle and second-ranked Carson-Newman in last week's CSU Collegiate Invitational. This is the second consecutive year the Lady Cougars have scored a win over the No. 2 team in the country on the opening weekend after defeating Grand Valley State 5-1 in 2017.

Olivia Jarrell stole the show in the season opener with two goals and an assist in the 3-0 win over Embry-Riddle. Jarrell took over the top spot on the CSU career leaderboards for goals (56) and points (131), moving into fourth all-time in Peach Belt Conference history as well.

Sunday's win over Carson-Newman saw three Lady Cougars get into the scoring column as Tehgan Anguilm, Riley Clark and Rachael Sweigard all tallied a goal.

Columbus State and Nova Southeastern will be meeting for just the second time in program history on Friday night. The two sides were scheduled to play in Columbus last season, but inclement weather cancelled the match.

After winning the Sunshine State Conference in 2017, the Sharks were voted as the preseason favorite last month. NSU returns 25 players off last year's team that went 12-4-2 and was eliminated on penalty kicks in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Nova Southeastern (2-1-0) lost its 2018 opener against Tusculum before rebounding for wins over King and Alabama-Huntsville.

Sunday will mark the sixth all-time meeting for the Lady Cougars and Rollins. CSU is just 2-3 against the Tars previously and has yet to win in three tries in Winter Park.

The last matchup saw Rollins hand the Lady Cougars a 1-0 loss in September of 2015 less than one year after the Tars defeated CSU 2-1 in the 2014 national quarterfinals. Columbus State's last win in the series was a 1-0 triumph in September of 2014 in Pensacola, Fla.

Rollins (0-0-2) has a pair of draws to its name through two matches this season. The Tars drew 2-2 with No. 9 Lee before a scoreless tussle against West Georgia.

Both matches will be streamed online, with links available at CSUCougars.com.
