FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The fifth-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer team tallied a 3-1 road victory on Friday night at Nova Southeastern.

Riley Clark paced Columbus State (3-0-0) with a pair of goals, while
Maddy Peterson's first of the season added some cushion in the second half.

"It's always important to play well on the road and we were able to beat a really good team tonight," head coach
Jay Entlich said. "We still need to work on finishing off the match, but we're happy with the win."

It took less than four minutes for the Lady Cougars to put the first goal on the board.
Amanda Murphy played a through ball down the right side of the field to
Kimmy May, who tapped a pass into the center where Clark was waiting to tuck it away.

The match remained at 1-0 for the rest of the first half, but Columbus State created separation early in the second.

In the 57
th minute, May worked around a defender on the right side before sending a ball into the box.
Rachael Sweigard ended up with possession near the penalty spot, and again it was Clark on the receiving end of a pass at the top of the box. The junior blasted a shot inside the far post to double the advantage on her third goal of the season.

Four minutes later, the Lady Cougars were at it again.
Abby Marmito worked the ball in from the left side and May touched a pass into the center. Peterson stepped up and sent a left-footed rocket into the upper-left corner for her first goal of the year.

Nova Southeastern (2-2-0) took advantage of a Lady Cougar foul in the 70
th minute, converting on the ensuing penalty kick for the lone blemish on the evening.

The Lady Cougars will stay in the Sunshine State for a matchup Sunday at Rollins. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. in Winter Park, Fla.
