MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Columbus State University men's cross country team took first while the women finished second at the Bobcat Invitational Saturday.
The men, who had three top-10 finishers, collected a team score of 37, 20 points ahead of second place Georgia College. Eight runners set season-best 8k times during the meet.
John Scarborough (25:40.9, third),
Charles Asouzu (25:50.6, fifth), and
Matthew Moulton (25:58.4, sixth) were the top performers for the Cougars.
Three runners finished just outside of the top-10.
Wright Calhoun (26:25.0),
Noah Churchwell (26:34.1), and
Carl Corley (26:36.6) crossed the line in 11
th, 12
th, and 13
th, respectively.
Kaden Ellis finished the race in 34
th place with a time of 28:19.4
Tristan Breen (29:20.0, 43
rd),
Austin Anthony (29:34.5, 47
th), and
Devin Salazar (30:17.7, 50
th) also ran for Columbus State.
"We used today as the final preparation for the Peach Belt Conference Championship," stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field
J.D. Evilsizer. "We employed a race strategy and followed it exactly to collect a great team finish. We plan to use the next two weeks on fine-tuning our strategy to maximize our team finish at the conference championship."
Tanzanie Brown led the Lady Cougars to a second place finish as she set a season-best 6k time of 22:30.5. Individually, Brown finished second as well.
Two other Lady Cougars collected top-20 finishes with
Alli Hay (23:32.8) and
Macey Voorhies (23:40.8) crossing the line in 14
th and 18
th places, respectively. Voorhies set a season-best time in the meet.

"We had a good showing today," commented head women's coach
David Marley. "Now, we need to make the final adjustments to gear up for the PBC Championships."
The PBC Championship will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26 in Lumberton, N.C.
