COLUMBUS - Five different players scored as the Columbus State University women's soccer team won its seventh straight match taking down Francis Marion 5-0 on Saturday. The match took place at the Walden Soccer Complex in Columbus.
In the dominating performance, Columbus State (11-6, 7-4 PBC) outshot Francis Marion 27-5.
"I thought this was one of the better overall efforts that we have had all year," added head coach
Jay Entlich. "We scored early and kept looking to add on, and that's the mentality you need to win matches at this point in the season."
"It was great to give our four seniors a nice win in their final regular season match here in Columbus."
Both CSU goals in the first half were impressive with
Kimmy May getting things started in the 12
th minute. Off a perfect deep cross from
Parker Morgan, May jumped in the air and headed home her seventh goal of the year.
Later in the period, freshman
Brenna Harrison got into the action. From about 18-yards out, Harrison curled in an unstoppable shot into the upper-90 to add to the lead.
After halftime, two of CSU's four seniors combined on a 51
st minute goal. With defenders draping all over
Riley Clark, the senior was able to tap a pass to
Flo Spano. Spano quickly fired off a shot to put the Lady Cougars in front 3-0.
Columbus State added two more goals over the final 30 minutes of play. In the 61
st minute, a perfect lead pass by
Maddie DeFranco found a racing
Maddy Peterson in the middle of the field. Peterson finished off the attack with her fourth goal of the season.
Kimmy Edgeworth capped off the scoring following a deflected shot attempt that Francis Marion's backline couldn't clear in the 84
th minute.
Bria Riancho collected the shutout victory after making two saves in goal for Columbus State.
The Lady Cougars will conclude the 2019 regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 6 taking on Georgia Southwestern in Americus. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
Match Notes
• With the shutout, the Lady Cougars now have six on the season. Five of the six have happened since Oct. 9.
• In CSU's season-long seven-match winning streak, the Lady Cougars have outscored their opponents 28-2.

Riley Clark's streak of scoring a goal in nine consecutive matches was snapped. The senior did pick up an assist to extend her streak to 10 straight matches with a point.
• It was the 270
