COLUMBUS - After a two-week break, the Columbus State University women's basketball team will return to the court to begin Peach Belt Conference play against USC Aiken. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside the Convocation Center in Aiken, S.C.
CSU (5-1) was impressive in its last game on Dec. 4, recording a 73-55 road victory over West Florida. The Lady Cougars outscored UWF 24-6 in the third quarter on their way to the win. Three players scored in double figures in the game with
LeeAysia Williamson leading the way with 16.
"We saw what we were capable in nonconference, but the true test begins now," commented head coach
Matt Houser. "PBC play goes at a different pace and it will be interesting to see how we match up against a well coached USC Aiken team."
Columbus State will be busy to close out the 2019 portion of its schedule. After Wednesday's game, the Lady Cougars will return to the Lumpkin Center to host Lander on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

About USC Aiken
USC Aiken already has a conference game under its belt after losing 64-53 to No. 14 North Georgia on Sunday. The Pacers made a furious fourth quarter comeback outscoring UNG 19-6, but the attempt came up short to push their record to 4-4 on the season.
The Pacers have been great on the glass this season ranking second in the PBC in rebounding margin (+7.8). However, USCA ranks near the bottom in turnovers per game (19.0) and opponents' 3-point percentage (32.6 percent).
Kwajelin Farrar is off to a great start to the season. The redshirt junior leads the league in rebounding (9.4 rebs./game) and fourth in scoring (15.5 PPG). Melyk Taouil controls the floor for USC Aiken averaging 12.4 points and 4.1 assists per game.
Lady Cougar Notes
• This is the 30th season that Columbus State has competed in the Peach Belt Conference. Overall, the Lady Cougars have captured at least a share of the regular season title seven times while winning five tournament titles.
• CSU has appeared in the PBC Tournament title game in five out of the previous six seasons, including in 2019.
• The Lady Cougars were ranked eighth in the latest D2SIDA Southeast Region poll.
• Columbus State ranks inside the top-25 in the nation in three different categories. The Lady Cougars are ninth in steals per game (13.7), 24th in rebounds per game (44.5), and 25th in fewest total turnovers (109).
• LeeAysia Williamson still leads the PBC in scoring. The junior is averaging 18.0 points per game and has scored 15 or more points in five of the six games this season.
• In the victory against West Florida, a season-high 11 different players scored a point.
• Chrisalyn Boston is now tied for sixth all-time in Columbus State history with 67 career blocks.
• This will be the 54th all-time meeting between Columbus State and USC Aiken. The Lady Cougars are 33-20 against the Pacers, including holding a 12-10 advantage in Aiken.
• CSU has won seven of the previous nine meetings between the teams.
