YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The Columbus State University men's basketball team couldn't keep up with Young Harris on the road as the Mountain Lions came away with the 106-85 victory Saturday. The Peach Belt Conference game took place in the YHC Basketball Arena.

Bryant Givens led the way for CSU putting up 31 points on 10-for-21 shooting while dropping in four from behind the arc. Landrius Horton chipped in 18 points and 11 rebounds to record his 12th double-double of the season.

"It's going to be real tough to come away with a win when you allow a team to hit triple-digits like today," said head coach Robert Moore. "We kept trying to make pushes throughout the second half but our defense couldn't come up with enough stops in a row to give us a chance at the end."

Columbus State had the early 7-6 advantage thanks to a Givens layup, but it would be the last time they would lead for the rest of the game. Young Harris went on an 11-0 run to grab the double-digit lead at the 11:50 mark.

The Cougars started cold from behind the three-point line but started to heat up as the first half wore on. Chris Horton came off the bench hitting two threes with L. Horton and Givens adding back-to-back from deep to make it 43-33 with 2:48 left in the first half. CSU would finish the half with a Stanley Taylor dunk to cut the deficit to seven.

The Mountain Lions continued their hot shooting through the second half shooting 60.6-percent from the field over the final 20 minutes. The Cougars made a strong push near the midway point of the second half going on a 10-0 run to make it a 70-65 game. Givens scored nine of those points, including two separate three-point plays with a made three to follow.

But that would be the closest the Cougars would get as YHC continued to push forward and increase their lead. Six different Mountain Lions finished in double-figures scoring as they hit 10 three-pointers in the game.

As a team, Columbus State shot 37.1 percent (26-70) and 27.0 percent (10-37) from three.

The Cougars will be back at home for a game against Flagler on Wednesday, Feb. 27. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
