COLUMBUS -Â The sixth-ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team came away with a 7-0 victory over Montevallo Saturday afternoon. The match took place at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
CSU swept doubles play as second-ranked
Beatriz Lopez and
Marleen Tilgner defeated Maria Garcia and Dorotea Hanzek 6-0. The 10th-ranked duo ofÂ
Luise Sachs and
Noa Davico won their match 6-3 while
Candice Paya and
Natalia Kattah Paz earned a 6-3 victory as the Lady Cougars grabbed the doubles point.
Columbus State dominated Montevallo in singles winning all six matches. Playing at the top position, 25th-ranked Tilgner won both sets to take the match 6-4, 6-3.
In the second spot, 22nd-ranked Lopez defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-2 while 46th-ranked Paya won her match 6-1, 6-0 playing at the third position. Sachs continued the streak winning her contest 6-3, 6-2. Paz lost her first set 6-3 only to come back victorious winning the next two 6-1 and then the tiebreaker 10-3.
Clara Audap finished off the sweep winning her match 7-5, 6-0.

Columbus State will head to Livingston, Ala. to take on West Alabama on Sunday, Feb. 24. The match will begin at 2 p.m.
