AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Columbus State University women's basketball team lost to Augusta 75-63 Saturday afternoon dropping their second Peach Belt Conference contest in a row.

Sophomore LeeAysia Williamson scored a career-high 29 points in just 17 minutes on 10-of-16 shooting, including hitting three from behind the arc. Unfortunately, no other Lady Cougar reached double figures as the rest of the team combined to shoot 12-for-38 from the field and 1-for-10 from deep.

"We're normally much better in third quarters so it was disappointing to see us come out flat after the break," said head coach Anita Howard. "We didn't get the stops we are accustomed to getting defensively but we'll put this behind us and be ready for Wednesday."

Williamson came out firing off the bench hitting two three-pointers in the first quarter to give her eight points. She followed that up by scoring the first four points of the second quarter to give CSU the four-point advantage. The two teams would trade the lead back and forth throughout the final minutes of the first half with Augusta taking the 35-33 lead into the break.

After Columbus State tied it up at 35-apiece, the Jaguars busted the game open with a 15-2 run over the next five minutes of action. The lead would continue to increase with the Lady Cougars only mustering nine total points in the quarter finding themselves down by 16.

After holding Augusta to just 56 points on 30.4 percent shooting in their first matchup, the Jaguars shot 50.0 percent from the field on Saturday while hitting nine three-pointers, the second-most allowed this year by CSU.

As a team, CSU shot 40.7 percent (22-for-54) from the floor while hitting just four of their 17 attempts from behind downtown.

Columbus State will be back in action Wednesday, Feb. 13 on the road to take on Georgia Southwestern. CSU lost to the Hurricanes 78-75 in Columbus on Jan. 16. Tipoff will be at 5:30 p.m.
