GREENWOOD, S.C. - In a reoccurring theme throughout this season, the Columbus State University rallied yet again to force extra innings, before taking down the Bearcats 9-5 in 11 innings. The Peach Belt Conference game was played at Dolny Stadium.

Columbus State (16-7, 6-3 PBC) hadn't scored for five straight innings as they trailed 5-4 heading to the ninth. But the magic that they've become accustomed to struck yet again for the Cougars.

"Great day at the plate for Ford who really gave us a fighting chance at the end," said head coach Greg Appleton. "We got the run we needed in the ninth and then busted it open in the eleventh. It took us a while to get going again after being held scoreless for so long but I was pleased with our resiliency and we'll head home with another series win."

Kendall Ford led the inning off with a single into center and Matthew McDade followed with one of his own to put runners on the corners with no outs. But a groundout and a strikeout would put the Cougars down to their final out with the runners on second and third.

Chase Brown stepped to the plate and saw a wild pitch go to the backstop allowing Ford to come around and tie the game. The Cougars couldn't get another run in but Devin Dudal pitched a perfect ninth to send the game to extras.

Neither team was able to get anything going in the tenth but it was CSU that saw their offense explode in the top of the 11th.

Ford once again led things off with a single, his fifth hit of the game. Robert Brooks then delivered the big RBI double into left field putting the Cougars in front. But they weren't nearly done.

Bryce Delevie would pick up his first hit of the game, but one that would double up the Cougar lead making it 7-5. Grant Berry would then finish things off for CSU ripping a double to the wall in left field scoring two more to open the game up.

Dudal stayed on the mound for Columbus State striking out two of three in a clean 11th inning to seal the deal on another Cougar comeback.

Ford finished the game 5-for-6 with four runs. The five hits were a season high for the senior, all five of them being singles. Robert Brooks went 3-for-5 with one RBI and one run.

Frank Wager, Berry and Delevie each added in two RBI's apiece for the Cougars.

Dudal (3-0) picked up the win going 3.0 innings without giving up a single hit while striking out four.

Columbus State will play a non-conference midweek game on the road against Albany State on Wednesday, March 20. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
