CHARLOTTE - The sixth-ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team defeated No. 15 Queens 6-1 in Charlotte late Friday night. The match took place indoors at the Charlotte Indoor Tennis Club.
CSU grabbed two of the three wins needed in doubles to grab the point before heading into singles play. In the second doubles it was 10

Luise Sachs and
Noa Davico squeaking out the 6-4 win while the duo of
Candice Paya and
Natalia Kattah Paz finished victorious by the same score. Second-ranked
Marleen Tilgner and
Beatriz Lopez were the lone Lady Cougars to fall short in doubles as Yana Fleyer and Aliaksandra Davidzenka defeated them 6-3.Â
In singles 25
th-ranked Tilgner went at the top position and took on 43
rd-ranked Yana Fleyer. This time Tilgner got revenge from her doubles loss, taking down Fleyer in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. 22
nd-ranked Lopez lost her first set 2-6 against her doubles opponent Davidzenka, before coming back to win the final two sets 6-4, 6-4.Â
In fifth singles it was 18
th-ranked Davico winning 6-1, 6-0 while Paz pulled out a straight set victory as well in the sixth spot defeating her singles opponent 6-3, 7-5. Â

th-ranked Paya was the lone loss in singles, losing a close match that went to a third set 3-6, 6-3, 3-6. With the match in hand 10
th-ranked Sachs came out on top 6-4, 4-3.Â
Columbus State will stay in North Carolina to take on Wingate Saturday, March 2. The match is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
