AUGUSTA, Ga. - The ninth-ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team swept their way to a 7-0 victory over Augusta on Saturday. The Peach Belt Conference match took place in Augusta.Â
In doubles it was a complete effort from the Lady Cougars as they crushed the Bobcats en route to the doubles sweep. First doubles team Marleen Tilgner and Clara Audap shutout their opponent 6-0 while third doubles Candice Paya and Natalia Kattah Paz did the same.Â
Over at second doubles it was 17th-ranked Noa Davico and Luise Sachs coming out on top 6-3 for the doubles point.Â
The Lady Cougars kept the points coming as they went into singles play.Â
At first singles it was 33rd-ranked Tilgner who won in straight sets 6-0, 6-2 while 67th-ranked Beatriz Lopez did the same easily winning 6-1, 6-0.Â
Paya got the nod at third singles securing another straight set win 6-1, 6-1 while Sachs picked up a point for the Lady Cougars crushing her opponent 6-0, 6-1.Â
Finally at the last two spots it was two more straight set wins for CSU. Davico wrapped up her match 6-1, 6-2 while Audap came away victorious 6-2, 6-0.Â
The Lady Cougars only lost a total of 14 games combined in the match including six shutout matches.Â
Columbus State will stay inside of conference as they'll head to Georgia College on Sunday, March 31 to take on the Bobcats. The match is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
