ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Columbus State University baseball team dropped the final game of the series 6-5 in ten innings against Flagler. The Peach Belt Conference game took place at Drysdale Field.

Two singles and an error loaded the bases for the Saints in the bottom of the tenth inning with one out. Relief pitcher Devin Dudal grabbed a strikeout for the second out but a single into shallow center field would walk it off for the Saints against the Cougars.

Falgler was the one who got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the opening inning with two RBI-doubles to put them up 2-0.

Columbus State (20-11, 8-7 PBC) would respond immediately in the top of the second thanks to two blunders by Flagler. With Grant Berry and Garrett Kirkwood on the base paths, Berry would come home to score the first Cougar run on a wild pitch. During the same at bat Kirkwood would steal third and then come home as well on an errant throw to tie the game.

One inning later it was Robert Brooks who hit a one-out single to put himself aboard when Frank Wager then lifted a 1-1 pitch over the wall in left to put the Cougars back in front.

Wager would grab himself another RBI off a sac-fly in the top of the fifth inning giving Columbus  State the 5-3 lead over the Saints.

Flagler would fight back in the next two innings, scoring a run each time to send the back-and-forth affair into another tie after six innings.

That's when Dudal went to work for the Cougars, shutting Flagler down for the next three innings. The sophomore racked up four strikeouts without giving up a single hit in the seventh-ninth innings of play.

Unfortunately the same thing would happen for CSU in those innings as their offense went three-up, three-down during the same time frame.

They weren't able to grab another hit until a two-out double in the top of the tenth inning. But a fly out to follow would strand the runner before the Saints grabbed the victory in the bottom of the frame.

Devin Dudal (3-1) was tagged with the loss going 5.1 innings in relief giving up two runs (zero earned) while striking out seven.

Wager finished 1-for-4 at the plate with three RBI's and his fourth home run of the season.

Berry would pick up two hits, both doubles on the afternoon while Brooks went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

The Cougars were swept for the first time this season, and first time since USC Aiken did it to them one year ago.

Columbus State will take on Albany State in a midweek game Wednesday, April 3 at Ragsdale Field. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
