COLUMBUS - The eighth-ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team snatched another 7-0 shutout, this time taking down Shorter on Thursday. The non-conference match took place at the Walden Tennis Center.

Marleen Tilgner and Luise Sachs teamed up at the first doubles court taking down Melinda Chrun and Ana Jovicic 6-2. From there the other two doubles courts didn't give up a single game easily earning the Lady Cougars the point.

The duo of Beatriz Lopez and Noa Davico took the second doubles court by storm winning 6-0 while Candice Paya and Natalia Kattah Paz did the same one court over at third doubles.

It was 34th-ranked Tilgner who got things rolling at first singles for CSU taking down her doubles counterpart Chrun with a 6-1, 6-3 straight set win. 55th-ranked Lopez did the same over at second with a dominating 6-0, 6-1 win to earn another point for Columbus State.

Third and fourth singles finished with the exact same scoreline, both in favor of the Lady Cougars. Paya won 6-0, 6-1 while 70th-ranked Sachs followed suit and came away victorious 6-0, 6-1 as well.

Fifth and sixth singles combined to blank Shorter as Paz and Clara Audap both picked up the straight set 6-0, 6-0 shutouts.

The Lady Cougars gave up just nine total games to Shorter throughout the entire match including two clean sweeps on courts in both doubles and singles.

The 7-0 victory was their third straight sweep for CSU and their sixth overall this season.

Columbus State will jump back into conference play to take on North Georgia on Saturday, April 6. The match is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
