ALBANY, Ga. - The No. 9 Columbus State University women's soccer team capped off a perfect Peach Belt Conference schedule with a 7-1 victory over Albany State University on Saturday in the regular-season finale.
It's the first season since 2018 that the Cougars (16-1-1, 9-0-0 PBC) completed their conference slate with a perfect record.
"I'm glad we were able to close out the regular season on a high note," stated head coach
Jay Entlich. "It's now time to turn our attention to the postseason though, and we are going to have to be clicking on all cylinders to accomplish what we want to."
Columbus State balanced out its scoring, finding the back of the net three times in the first half before closing the match out with four in the final 45 minutes of play.
Rachael Sweigard found the first goal in the fourth minute off a pass from
Brooke Ouimette.
Maddie DeFranco made it 2-0 in the 26th minute but Albany State's (1-12-0, 0-9-0 PBC) Thuto Ramafifi put the Golden Rams on board in the 31st.
The Cougars were able to take a 3-1 lead into the break after Syndey Ormsby slid one in after plays by
Sage Smith and
Brooke Ouimette.
The second half saw two Cougars etch their names in the record book. Ormsby scored two more goals to finish off the 21st hat trick in CSU history. Ouimette helped on two more goals, an Ormsby's score in the 37th minute and DeFranco's second goal in the 58th minute, to become only the second player in program history to have four assists in a match.
Maddy Peterson also picked up her fourth goal of the year in the 57th minute.
Columbus State outshot Albany State 38-3 in the match. CSU had 15 corners compared to zero from ASU.

Lizzie Hedrick split time in net for CSU.
UP NEXT
Columbus State will host the opening round of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 6. CSU will play either Georgia Southwestern University or USC Aiken.
COUGAR NOTES
• It's the second time CSU has scored seven goals this season
• It's the fifth time that the Cougars have finished the year with a perfect PBC record (2018, 2014, 2007, 2006)
• Ouimette joins Jessica Woodson as the only other player with four assists in a match. She did it on Oct. 24, 2007, versus Georgia Southwestern
• The 38 shots in the match was a season-high for the Cougars
• Riley Clark was the last player to score a hat trick for the Cougars on Oct. 12, 2019 against Clayton State University
• It was the third multi-goal match for DeFranco. The first two came during her freshman year in 2018
• Columbus State has won 12 straight road PBC matches
